The City of Markham indoor tennis bubble project was approved back in Dec 2019, but due to COVID-19, work had been put on hold. On May 14th the province declared that construction is now allowed to progress.
The work on the clubhouse is the first phase of this project, and should be completed by the end of June. It will not affect our ability to access the courts during that time.
This phase of the project consists of the following upgrades:
Full insulation to the walls, the floor and in the attic space.
HVAC system to heat the building in the winter and cool it in the summer.
Fire regulations require that a special metal fire curtain be installed to the outside front face of the clubhouse, which would automatically descend down to protect the clubhouse in the event of a fire from inside the clubhouse or from the bubble adjacent to the clubhouse.
