MTC Clubhouse Update, Membership Registration & More

Clubhouse Reconstruction Update

Thank you for your patience as your executive work through the many facets of preparing for the upcoming season. This has been especially challenging because of the planning work to ensure we have a new Clubhouse delivered prior to opening day in May.

We are happy to report that all the hurdles have been cleared to deliver on the new Clubhouse, with the following schedule:

1. Design Drawings - Complete

2. Budget & Scope of Work - Complete

3. Demolition of old building - February 15. Watch the video, CLICK HERE

4. Install foundation (helical piles) - March 6-10

5. Building Construction - March 13 - April 15

6. Soft Opening - May 6

7. Grand Re-Opening with City & Media - July 3rd during U18 Outdoor Provincials

In addition, Courts 1-3 will be resurfaced this spring as soon as weather permits, and all the fencing surrounding those courts will be replaced by the City.

Special thanks to Ward councillors Karen Rea and Don Hamilton and City staff for persevering and finding a way to make all this work and come together! It's been almost a 2-year journey and now we see light at the end of the tunnel!

Another special shout-out to Russ Gregory of the Gregory Design Group, whose team was willing to step in to make this an affordable community project!

Welcome New Management Team

Those of you who attended our AGM back in November of 2016 were told of a likely partnership with a team to assist with the day-to-day operations of the club, so the new executive could focus on planning and strategy to move the club forward. We are happy to report that we now have a multi-year agreement in place with Richard Nicolson and Jeff Lander to do just that. Responsibilities range from daily operations, hiring of pros and monitors, designing all the junior and adult programming, community outreach, socials and much more.

Through our new management team, we have a wide array of programming available for you and your family to satisfy all age ranges and abilities, from ages 5 and up! Please check out all that is being offered this season by visiting our Programs page at

Member Registration Opens March 1st

As reported in the last newsletter, we have replaced our website and have also replaced our "backend" processing for online registration, using the Jegysoft system. Jegysoft has been in the business of club management for over 5 years and is used by over 20 clubs in Ontario for tennis registration, booking and online payment.

Starting March 1st, you can visit our website under "Membership" and register you and your family for 2017. The system is new, so even those returning members will need to re-enter all registration information. Once captured, you will be good to go for future years.

One of the unfortunate realities with facility improvements is that our capital costs will increase starting this year. In order to pay off our debts, the membership fees will have to be increased starting this year. While the increase may seem substantial, it still remains in line with other community clubs in Markham.

As a "thank-you" to all of you who continue to support the club, we will be offering an "early-bird" discount of 10% for those who register between March 1st and April 15th.

Intercounty Teams

We are interested in enrolling teams in the following divisions:

1. Ladies B1 play Wednesday mornings

2. Ladies B2 play Thursdays mornings

3. Mixed A play Thursday evenings

4. Mixed B play Tuesday evenings

5. Mixed C play Thursday evenings

6. +55 play Thursday mornings (you must be 54 years of age or older in 2017)
