Do you think you're in reasonably good shape? Play a lot of doubles tennis, so you'd think, ya, I'm not bad. Well, 24 members who participated in our August 25th Cardio Social were thinking again, and if they were like me, probably wished they had hit the gym more often leading up to this fun and friendly evening on the courts!
Cardio instructors David, Kusal and Prisilla ran 3 courts of basically non-stop drills from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The attendees were split into three groups of 6-8 people and rotated every 10 minutes to the next court, repeating that 3 times. The drills changed for each rotation, but the instructors were kind to many of us and pretty soon allowed us to modify each of a number of secondary drills on the court to suit our fitness level, lest we break out our AED device and test it out live!
By about 8:15pm we were all ready for some fine recovery exercise: hitting the clubhouse for sub sandwiches, munchies and drinks! What a beautiful way to end a spectacular evening on the courts.
I slept like a baby that night, but my quads were not happy with me the next day. But I'll be back again...I'm a glutton for punishment!
